Company Overview
Do you want to help entrepreneurs scale the next generation of high-impact unicorns? Then join us at Capital Department, a leading advisory firm helping startups democratize access to capital.
Capital Department is on a mission to open private markets to everyone, having helped founders raise $250M+ to date. As our Investor Relations Strategy & Ops lead, you will partner directly with startup CEOs to navigate the complexities of raising capital through Reg CF and Reg D frameworks.
We’re an ambitious team of professionals who have worked with VC-backed startups and Fortune 500 companies. We are graduates of Cornell, Oxford, Stanford, Georgetown, and UCLA, and our work has been featured in Forbes, PBS, The New York Times, The Financial Times, and Fast Company.
The Role
In close partnership with founders and the Capital Department leadership team, you will focus on the strategic communication and operational management of investor pools:
- Own the Investor Journey: Lead the end-to-end IR strategy, from crafting the initial investment narrative to managing post-launch investor communications.
- Operationalize the Funnel: Manage and optimize investor pipelines. You'll lead deal performance analysis to ensure rounds are gaining momentum.
- Founder Advisory: Act as a strategic partner to world-class CEOs, guiding them through the nuances of public-facing capital raises.
- Narrative & Content Excellence: Write persuasive copy for investor decks, email campaigns, and pitch materials. You know how to turn complex business models into compelling stories.
- Platform & Ecosystem Management: Oversee relationships with Reg CF/Reg D platforms and implement scalable systems to enhance investor engagement.
What are we looking for?
We value startup grit, strategic thinking, and a high-performance background. We are looking for candidates who can operate at the level our visionary founders expect.
- Startup DNA: 5+ years of experience in the startup ecosystem (high-growth companies, VC firms, or as a founder). You thrive in fast-paced, sometimes ambiguous environments.
- The IR Mindset: Experience in Investor Relations, Marketing, or Chief of Staff roles where you managed complex stakeholders and high-stakes communications.
- Exceptional Communication: You possess executive presence. You can lead a call with a CEO in the morning and write a technical investor update in the afternoon.
- Operational Rigor: You are meticulously organized. You enjoy building systems (Asana, HubSpot, etc.) to ensure no detail falls through the cracks.
- Storytelling Pro: You have a sharp eye for design and a gift for copy. You can take a messy founder vision and turn it into a crisp, professional investor deck.
Tech Toolkit
You should be "tech-native" and comfortable with:
- Collaboration: Google Workspace, Slack, Zoom, Asana.
- Design/Content: Familiarity with Canva, Figma, or similar tools to oversee creative assets.
- Automation: Experience with CRM or Email Marketing tools (e.g., Klaviyo, HubSpot) and AI-productivity tools (e.g., Claude/ChatGPT).
Why join us?
- High Impact: You will be the primary engine behind the success of multiple high-growth startups.
- Network: Build a powerful personal brand within the venture capital and startup landscape.
- Culture: Work with an ambitious, remote-first team that values autonomy and excellence.
Location & Compensation: Remote — must be based in and authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship, now or in the future. $130,000, plus benefits, including vision, dental, & healthcare.
